NAVAL ARCHITECTS

The project’s naval architects combine the composite skills of fresh team lead by Steve Quigley and project architect Rob Tulk. One2three Pty Ltd is a Sydney-based company with a largish staff level for a consulting Ship Design Office, employing more than 10 Naval Architects and experienced draftsmen/shipwrights. three.jpgOne2three was formed in 2005 and is now an independent design house with experience in commercial and private vessels for the domestic and international markets. Australian naval architects have been very active in the international design and delivery of the new era of fast, multihulled vessels, particularly in the fast ferry field. This Australian expertise is close to, if not leading the current world’s cutting edge, in fast, seagoing marine transport development, and the Trybrid Project is blessed to have the One2three design office as leading designers.tasmania-and-amc-apr-2006-021.jpg

Steve Quigley, the office’s manager/owner brings not just design expertise, but managerial experience in contracting, construction and commissioning from his 7 years as managing director of North West Bay Ships and 13 years with Incat Designs. Look to projects like the 55 m (180′) World First Foil-Assisted Trimaran, Dolphin Ulsan launched in 2001, and built and designed by North West Bay Ships for 450 pax, at 50 dwt, for speeds of 40 knots with 3 x MTU 16V4000 @ 2,320kW as an example of Steve’s handiwork.5512.jpg

Project Architect, Rob Tulk is a designer, trained like Steve Quigley at the University of NSW’s School of Naval Architecture,  and had 7 years experience with Incat Designs and 6 years as Chief Naval Architect with North West Bay Ships.  Rob also worked with fast ferry experts NQEA in Cairns, and NQEA built a range of wave piercing ferries like Quicksilver’s wave piecing flag ship Quicksilver 8.242-id1472-flyer1-20pc.jpg
For Rob’s background, look to projects like the 61 m (200′) World-First Trimaran Motor yacht White Rabbit Echo launched 2005 , and built and designed by North West Bay Ships, styled by Sam Sorgiovanni Designs, with luxury suites for 18 , a range 5000 nm @ 12 knots, and a top speed of 19 knots, and powered by 2 x Cat 3512B-TA 1,566 kW.
Acknowledgement is given to the innovator and leader in the development of the long thin, motorized trimaran hull, Nigel Irens, and thanks is given to Nigel for his friendly, informal advise given around his experiences with his design of the ILAN and Cable and Wireless Adventurer.
